I AM WORTH MORE THAN:
The lies
The fake alibis
The tricks
The chicks
The games
The shame
The excuses
The abuses
The disappointment
The STD appointment
The lonely nights
The horrendous fights
Explaining to the kids
What daddy did
I AM WORTH:
The truth
Your Ruth
Your friendship
Your kinship
Your loyalty
Your royalty
The sunshine during the storm
To be your rib which God hath form
Your shoulder to cry on
Your mountain to stand on
Your protection
Your direction
The man I walk beside
As we let God be our guide

Eye on the Sparrow
Earlier this evening my kids found a baby sparrow in distress. Somehow its mom left it behind and there it was in the grass alone, hungry and frightened. My kiddos and I rescued the little guy, built him a little home and we're feeding him about every hour. He or should I say SHE is finally quiet from chirping now. My second oldest daughter named the thing Carmen as if she lifted the bird's skirt tail to determine its gender. Nonetheless, little Carmen has had some mush, a little water and her first poop. So hopefully she'll sleep now and allow me to get some sleep as well.
Of course my 3 little ones will be Carmen's guardians during the day but lucky me, I get to play nurse maid by night as my little sparrows get their sleep. Tomorrow, my twin daughter will feed little Carmen mushed cat food through an eye dropper. She is so excited that she gets to care for this tiny animal, she can hardly contain herself. :-) This part of parenting is what I call..."cute."
Well I'm off to bed with prayers of seeing yet another beautiful day tomorrow. Wishing everyone a Blessed evening.
Good Night

For No Man Knows Tomorrow...
I find myself a bit shaken by the horrific accident that occurred on Washington, DC’s metro rail this evening. This morning, when we rose from our beds and went about our day, our thoughts certainly were on what we would do when we arrived home. Some of us thought of our favorite television program, some thought of our children and family activities, some thought of church or religious activities. One way or the other, we all thought of something that we had on our plates this evening never thinking that we may never make it home again.
Life is so fragile and today’s tragedy has me thinking about the inevitable. Am I ready to leave this life? There are so many things that we as humans must do to prepare - first there is our spiritual house. I firmly believe that we must answer for the live we’ve lived here on earth. Secondly, there are the family members that we leave behind. Parents, do you have a will? Who will assume guardianship of your offspring should you parish? Those who do not have children or at least not minor children, have you thought about your homes and valuables? Life insurance policies in order? Wow, there is a lot of preparation for the most morbid time in one’s life.
Sorry that my first blog is such a gloomy one, but today’s tragedy just has me thinking. You know we can eat right, exercise and do all the right things to ensure life’s longevity but accidents are unpredictable and your caloric intake vs. your workouts aren’t worth a “hill of beans” when tragedies such as these occur. Today is just another reminder that life is not promised.
Peace…
